The world around us has changed beyond recognition since the beginning of the year. People are afraid to open news sites in the morning, dreading what new madness the imbecile elected by Americans in the last presidential election has come up with.

One day he promises to release the Epstein files. Then, when it leaks that they’re full of his name, he refuses and declares it all a Democratic conspiracy. One day in the White House, he publicly humiliates Zelensky and blames him for the war in Ukraine. The next day, he praises him to the skies as a hero of his nation. In the morning, he boasts about a pleasant chat with Putin; by afternoon, he hates him because Melania told him he bombed another kindergarten.
He keeps inventing new imaginary wars that he supposedly ended, while tirelessly begging for a Nobel Peace Prize like a spoiled brat whining for a lollipop. What’s true in the morning may not be true by evening, and tomorrow everything could be completely different again.
And Western politicians? Starmer always looks like a stunned schoolboy in Trump’s presence, waiting for a slap out of nowhere. Trump doesn’t speak to Merz at all. The highlight of Macron’s efforts is posting a video on social media showing him calling Trump from Times Square, unable to enter the UN building due to Trump’s security measures. At least he shows us he has Trump’s number.
One of the few glimmers of hope was Meloni for a moment whom the ape from Mar-a-Lago would love to fuck. But she won’t give it up, so the path to a confident Europe doesn’t lead through the Italian Prime Minister’s vagina either. And so, the only remaining hope is Finnish President Stubb, whom Trump likes because he’s a fellow golf enthusiast. Everyone hopes Stubb will let him win, and in return, Trump might postpone his plans to militarily occupy Greenland.
Because among top European politicians, there’s no one willing to stand up to this unleashed madman and finally say a loud ENOUGH! regardless of the consequences, we’re witnessing the rise of political movements and figures across Europe inspired by the growing success of primitive Trumpism. It’s a truly sad sight.
But not to end this short reflection on a completely pessimistic note — at least among the initially utterly impotent American Democrats, I see the first sparks of hope. The first is Gavin Newsom, Governor of California, who isn’t afraid to hit back at Trump and occasionally land a well-aimed punch. The second is JB Pritzker, Governor of Illinois.
Hopefully, we’ll soon see someone in Europe who won’t keep bowing servilely before Trump. And when he asks for it, he’ll gladly smack him. Because that’s often the only language bullies and usurpers understand.
